JME DXB:1 Digital X-Ray Buggy
Digital panoramic radiography for pipeline weld inspection and industrial applications.
The JME DXB:1 Digital X-Ray Buggy is designed to produce high-quality panoramic digital radiographs of circumferential welds, particularly for applications such as new pipeline construction.
As a versatile and configurable digital radiography system, the DXB:1 can also be used for non-pipeline applications, including the inspection of tank walls and other ferrous metal structures.
The system provides a modern alternative to traditional film radiography, eliminating the need for chemical processing and dark rooms while providing rapid access to digitally acquired inspection images.
Digital Radiography Without Film Processing
The DXB:1 replaces traditional film-based radiography with a digital inspection workflow. The system includes a high-definition digital panel that allows operators to verify image quality and system settings immediately. Digital images are stored electronically, removing the need for physical film storage and providing a permanent digital record within the control tablet. Images can also be backed up via USB or transferred using a network connection, allowing radiographs to be sent to an off-site radiographer within seconds of acquisition.
Key Digital Benefits
- High-quality panoramic digital radiographs
- High-definition digital panel
- Instant verification of image quality
- Immediate verification of system settings
- Digital image storage
- Permanent inspection records
- USB backup capability
- Network connectivity
- Rapid transfer of images to an off-site radiographer
- No chemical film processing
- No requirement for dark rooms
- Eliminates film storage requirements
Integration With JME CR2 Pipeline Crawlers
Two-way communication between the DXB:1 and CR2 crawler allows key crawler parameters to be configured directly from the DXB:1 control tablet.
The integration also allows an inspection to be commenced with the push of a single button.
During an inspection task, the DXB:1 operator can:
- Control the CR2 crawler
- Adjust crawler parameters
- View crawler status
- Configure key crawler settings
- Commence the inspection from the control tablet
This integration provides a connected digital radiography workflow between the X-ray buggy and pipeline crawler.
Rapid Magnetic Deployment
The DXB:1 is designed for fast and efficient deployment on site.
Its rapid magnetic deployment system allows the unit to be positioned by a single person in less than one minute.
The system attaches to the pipe using permanent magnets. This means that, in the event of a loss of power, the unit remains firmly attached to the pipe.
The magnetic mounting system also eliminates the need to weld bands onto the pipe and relocate them between inspections, helping improve efficiency during repeated inspection operations.
Designed for Efficient Field Deployment
Single-Person Deployment
The DXB:1 can be positioned by one person in less than a minute.
Permanent Magnetic Attachment
Permanent magnets secure the system to the pipe.
Secure During Power Loss
The magnetic attachment keeps the unit firmly positioned in the event of a loss of power.
No Welded Bands Required
The system eliminates the need to weld and relocate mounting bands between inspections.
Improved Site Productivity
Rapid deployment and simplified positioning help increase inspection efficiency on site.
Pipeline & Non-Pipeline Applications
Although designed particularly for circumferential weld inspection on new pipelines, the DXB:1 is a versatile and configurable system that can also be utilised for other ferrous metal inspection applications.
Potential applications include:
- New pipeline weld inspection
- Circumferential weld radiography
- Tank wall inspection
- Inspection of ferrous metal structures
- Other suitable industrial radiography applications
A Digital Alternative to Film Radiography
Traditional film radiography can involve chemical processing, dark-room facilities and the physical storage of inspection films.
The DXB:1 provides a digital workflow in which radiographic images can be viewed, stored, backed up and transferred electronically.
This can simplify the inspection process while providing rapid access to acquired images and reducing the practical requirements associated with conventional film radiography.
DXB:1 Digital X-Ray Buggy
The JME DXB:1 combines digital radiography, rapid magnetic deployment and integration with the JME CR2 Pipeline Crawler Range into a single inspection system.
For pipeline and other suitable industrial applications, the system is designed to provide a faster, more connected digital radiography workflow.
